Father Dies by Suicide Hours Before Daughter's Wedding in Uttar Pradesh's Raebareli Over Marriage Expenses
A carpenter from Uttar Pradesh's Raebareli died by suicide hours before his daughter's wedding, allegedly due to stress over marriage expenses and loans. The tragic incident shocked the family as police began an investigation and confirmed no information of dowry demands from the groom's side.
Kaushal, a carpenter by profession, was found hanging from a tree in an orchard located behind a temple, a short distance from his home, on the morning of his daughter Khushboo's wedding ceremony.
Family members began searching for Kaushal after he went missing shortly before the wedding rituals were scheduled to begin. His body was later discovered hanging from a tree, leaving the family in shock on a day meant for celebration.
According to his son Suraj, Kaushal had been under severe mental stress due to the financial burden of arranging the wedding expenses. Suraj said his father had borrowed money from several people to organise the marriage and had remained deeply worried in the days leading up to the ceremony.
"My father was extremely disturbed because of my sister's wedding. He had taken loans from several people. I work outside the village and had also contributed significantly towards the marriage expenses," Suraj told the police.
Villagers said that nearly Rs 5 lakh had been spent on the wedding arrangements. Kaushal, who earned his livelihood by making wooden furniture, struggled to arrange the required funds and had taken loans to meet the expenses.
A senior police officer said the matter is under investigation and confirmed that there was no information regarding any dowry demand from the groom's side.
The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the family, as financial pressure surrounding a wedding celebration ended in the tragic loss of a father just hours before he was expected to witness a significant milestone in his daughter's life.
